Procrasti-Nate and MAWingate are both summarily shaming (Nate told me how to spell that) me for not posting since before the beginning. That's a long time. OK, my wife still loves me, and one of my kids even called me on Father's Day. That's a plus. Wait, that's two plusses. ++ And my tomatoes are already "over the top" of the cages. Woo-hoo - 3 - I'm on a roll! Over the last few weekends I poured foundations for, stained, and put together (significant assembly required) a nice big arbor in front of the gate to our back yard for the $35 trumpet vine my wife bought to grow on. We have only owned this house for about 6 months and have projects lined up till the snow flies. It's been over 10 years since I owned my own place. Well, me and the bank - you know. All three of the others wound up belonging to some "other woman." Anyway, it's fun. Last month I took a perfectly good hand made oak gun cabinet and turned it into a pretty nice china hutch/curio shelf for my wifes do-dah's. Guess I must love her! She is, after all, the best woman that ever happened to me.

Eating...

... is nice! The fast is over again for another year. I am a Baha'i - we fast during daylight hours from the 2nd of March to the Vernal Equinox. If you are into medical terminology, that would be NPO {Nothing Per Os[Os = mouth (God, I love parentheses!)]. The no eating from dawn to dusk part isn't all that bad. After all, I am 8 inches to short for my weight. It's the no drinking part that gets my attention. Dry mouth and dragon-breath prevail. In fact dragon-breath hardly describes it. Dead-dragon-poop-breath is probably more accurate!

Fasting truly is good for the soul, not to mention challenging. The sun and moon in the firmament of spirituality have always been prayer and fasting. Today in the western world, the moon at least, and some would say the sun also, have indeed fallen from the sky.

But not too biblical...

This whole thing is Nate's fault. He did it, and I swear I am innocent! (And if you believe that, I have a bridge in my back pocket to sell you.) He has been after me to write my "old man" stories down, almost since the day we started working together. He even set this thing up so I no longer have an excuse to not write.
